Rabies Scare
No good deed goes unpunished.
Long story short... in trying to help a stray dog in a mall parking lot (at ~11 pm, that is the longest part of the story) next to the freeway feeder road I managed to get bitten on the cheek. Only superficial but still a little disconcerting. OK, a lot disconcerting.
Oh, and we did eventually find the dog's home, roust the family at 12:40 in the morning and determine that the dog has probably not had a rabies shot. Well, we think that is the assessment as the man that answered the door spoke broken English and my husband speaks broken Spanish.
So, after a trip to the emergency room that saw us getting home at 3am it is not likely that I will get rabies but we will go by the dog's house in 10 days to make sure it is still OK before a final decision on the shots will be made...

Best vacation videos (at least for us)
While this post is late in coming as we got home from Hawaii nearly 2 weeks ago, these represent the two best, less than 1 minute each, vacation videos ever for us. Yeah, you can see from the screen view that it is a white-tipped man-in-the-gray-suit, about 6-7 feet in length that swam right underneath us.
This happened at Black Rock, Ka'anapali, Maui where we snorkel whenever we are not doing anything in particular. We always stay at Ka'anapali Beach Hotel (best place to stay) and this is just a short walk down the beach.
We had a great time as always and of course I went way off the reservation eating wise and have stayed there since we got back. TODAY I get back on the Primal Blueprint land.

3/22/12 What the heck am I doing these days...
Well, very busy. On the fitness front I am working on Cold Thermogenesis (CT). The funny thing is that when I was back getting my undergrad Chemistry degree I thought about trying this but since I have always been cold adverse I did not do it. Back then I was interested in Heat-Shock Proteins and Cell Apoptosis. Whether or not it is effective for weight loss and/or spot trimming (via mechanisms similar to Zeltiq procedures) it will certainly enable me to be less effected when entering the Pacific during this year's Hawaii trip in late April.
I think one of the most rewarding things for me at this time (early in the process) is the opportunity to get wrapped up in the biochemistry from the blog and references. Having access to some of the full text versions of studies due to the institution where I work is a major bonus. It is re-wetting my my passion and reinvigorating my brain. Too bad I went off the research path so many years ago.

3/5/12 Breakfast of Champions
Liver, pastured Eggs, Caviar, Coffee with Raw Cream. Liver and Eggs cooked in tallow. Truly the breakfast of Champions. I feel good.
The menu is, or was, a stretch for me. I don't think it will be a stretch in the future. I also suspect that I will not need lunch today.
